We are very pleased to welcome both you and your child to Deer Class. We hope your family enjoyed a restful summer break and that your child is beginning to look forward to this new school year. Curriculum
Our curriculum overview will give you an idea of the areas of study we will be covering across the year. While this acts as a guide, please note that adjustments may be made throughout the year for school events and celebrations. If you, or someone you know, has experience linked to any of our topics, we would be delighted to arrange a visit or video link to enrich the children’s learning.
PE Days
For this term, PE will take place on Tuesdays and Fridays, starting the week of Monday 8th September. On these days, please ensure your child comes to school in their PE kit. Wearing PE kit all day helps us to make the most of the lesson time.
Homework and Reading
In addition to weekly activities, children will also be set a larger project task each half term. Reading remains a priority and every child will be provided with a reading book and record, which should be brought to school each day. We encourage daily reading to build fluency and comprehension. If you are able to offer any spare time in the afternoons to hear children read, we would be grateful. Please let us know via Class dojo if this interests you.
Achievements
We enjoy recognising children’s achievements both in and out of school. If your child has earned a certificate, award, or badge, please encourage them to bring it in so we can celebrate together. It would also be lovely to receive photographs of family, pets, or special hobbies to share in class.
