Supported by Mrs Parker and Mrs Poole

We hope you have enjoyed your summer and are well rested. We have been busy preparing your new classroom and exciting learning for the year ahead. Here is a quick breakdown of this term’s topics:

Maths- Place Value starting with tens of thousands!

English- retelling the Greek myth of Pandora’s Box

Geography- study of the population- how is it changing our planet?

Science- Classification of living things.

Computing- Online safety and coding

Art- drawing – making my voice heard

RE- Why do Hindus want to be good?

PSHE- Family & relationships

PE-Invasion games (netball) & health related exercise.

PE will take place on Monday and a Thursday, so please can children come in their PE kits on these days.

CLASS REMINDERS:

Please PLEASE name all of your child’s belongings, most importantly their jumpers & cardigans. Uniform needs to be adhered to (policy online), this includes the PE kit.

Children need to bring a bottle of water and a healthy snack for breaktime in every day.

Dojo- everything is on Dojo! Spellings, homework, letters, reminders, recognitions. So please ensure you have access to it and check regularly. If you cannot find some information…it will most probably be on there. Equally, if I have forgotten to upload something, I absolutely welcome a gentle reminder. QR codes were sent home on Wednesday afternoon, please let us know if you need another one.

Homework

An optional homework project will be issued every half term based on their topic. It is designed to speak their enthusiasm of their upcoming topic and will of course prepare them for the learning ahead.

A compulsory piece of homework (English/Maths) will be set every Friday and due in the following Thursday. This will be marked in class.

Additionally reading 4 x a week is expected. Please record this on their Dojo profile with the name of the book, a comment on how they did. I cannot stress how important reading is. It is priority! By gaining a sound ability to read and understand, they will achieve more than they would without.

Spelling will be posted on a Friday and should be practised as much as possible.

Finally, TTRS is more important than ever and again I would recommend 4 x a week.

We are incredibly lucky to be teaching your children and look forward to the year ahead. As always, we are contactable through Dojo and on the door if you ever wish to speak to us. Please do not hesitate to communicate

All that leaves us to say is a big THANK YOU for your support and co-operation for the year ahead, we hope that you are your child enjoy the ride because we are certainly ready for it!
